What is an APU?

An APU is an acceerated processing unit. However you’re most likely here because you’re trying to find out what an APU in your laptop is for.

In many laptops hitting the market right now, the CPU & GPU are integrated into one single APU. The most popular example is the AMD Fusion. What does this mean for you? Most likely, cheaper laptop prices and graphics food enough for the average user.

Also, the graphics chip has typically been a weak point in laptops and prone to failure. This is a good step in the right direction.

In 2012 many laptops utilizing AMD Fusion will be available for $499 or less.
